Regulated Routes for Regenerative Medicine in Korea

In Korea, stem cell products and advanced regenerative treatment follow two regulated routes. The first is stem cell therapy products approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS); each was evaluated only for its approved indications. The second, since 21 February 2025, lets institutions designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare provide advanced regenerative treatment to patients with serious, rare or intractable diseases, but only under treatment plans that passed committee review.
